Mareham le Fen Parish Council plans to purchase Speed Indicator Devices for the village during the financial year 2025-26.
The Parish Council included in the budget for 2025-26 approximately £9,000 to purchase Speed Indicator Devices for the village.
The Parish Council listened to the residents who came to meetings and complained about the speed of some vehicles passing through the village.
This meant that the precept increase shown on the Council Tax bills for Mareham le Fen Parish Council showed an increase of 15% this year.
The money raised through the precept is being used to pay Lincolnshire County Council to install the poles on the highway verges in three locations (as shown in the images on this page) and then to purchase from a company the solar-powered Speed Indicator Devices to be placed on the poles. The devices will belong to Mareham le Fen Parish Council.
These devices will help reduce the average speed of vehicles passing through the village on Main Street. They work by showing drivers the speed they are travelling and if they are above the speed limit it will warn them to 'slow down'. Many other villages and towns use them. They will also produce data that will be published to show the number of vehicles passing through the village and average speed at each location.
The devices will be purchased and installed during 2025.
